The Tempest | Ginger beer, dark rum, served over ice with a lime wedge, unshaken.
Prelude Talks
Prior to each performance enjoy a prelude talk with Andrea Fellows Fineberg, the librettist of UnShakeable.
Live prelude talks offer necessary context, feed curiosity, and provide special behind the scenes insights to help prepare the audience to enter the world of the opera and get excited for what they’re about to experience.
Entering the Theater
As you enter the theater, an usher will hand you a small flashlight. These are for your moment in the performance to shine as part of the wishing star chorus. These are yours to keep as you leave the performance.
Note: Flashlights are small and have removable bands and might not be suitable for children under 3 years.
More Information
Guide to the Opera
Is this your first time attending an opera? If you're new to a certain performance, or just want to come prepared, it's great to read a synopsis or attend the pre-performance lecture prior to the show. Also, we don't expect you to learn a new language for the performance. All performances will have english supertitles projected above the stage so you can follow along. Click here for a helpful information about the opera experience including suggestions on what to wear, when to arrive and about the orchestra.
In what language will UnShakeable be presented?
The opera will be sung in English, the original language in which it was written. English supertitles will be available on a screen above the stage.
Are there lighting or sound elements I should be aware of?
There will be theatrical lighting elements for this performance. The singers do not use microphones, just their natural voices projecting from the stage.

Relaxed Performance
Saturday, June 6 - 2:00PM
We welcome everyone to enjoy the show in the way that is most comfortable for them. Perfect for first time opera-goers, those looking for a more casual experience, students and youth who are curious about opera, and individuals with sensitivity concerns or disabilities. While the opera performance itself will have no changes, in order to make this experience more accessible, we will adapt the performance experience in the following ways:
- A relaxed atmosphere allows patrons to talk and vocalize as they wish.
- There is no ‘Shushing’ during the show. If you are someone who enjoys silence during the opera, this performance might not be for you.
- Patrons are free to leave and re-enter the seating area as needed.
- An additional, quiet, calm space will be available for patrons if they wish to take a break from the performance.
- We encourage patrons to bring their own noise canceling headphones and fidgets if desired.
- Sensory Kits will also be available to check out at the Opera Omaha welcome table.
