Barber of Seville Supernumerary/Flamenco Dancer Auditions
Opera Omaha will be presenting The Barber of Seville at the Orpheum Theater on October 24 and 26, 2025. This production, directed by UK-based Stephen Lawless, was first premiered at Opera San Jose in 2023. Composed by Gioachino Rossini, The Barber of Seville is one of the world’s most performed operas, celebrated for its catchy arias, dynamic ensembles, and comedic elements.
The opera follows the charming and witty barber Figaro, who assists Count Almaviva in winning the affections of Rosina, a beautiful young woman guarded by her guardian, Doctor Bartolo. Supernumeraries/Flamenco dancers play a comedic role as Figaro’s sidekicks, bringing heightened energy and celebration to key moments throughout the opera.
Opera Omaha is thrilled to collaborate with Patricia Velazquez-Dunn, the founder of Flamenco Omaha, who will be both choreographing and performing as one of the Flamenco dancers. Supernumeraries/Flamenco Dancers will also share the stage with renowned vocal artists, including Argentine mezzo-soprano Daniela Mack; Chinese tenor Minghao Liu; and American baritone, Alexander Birch Elliott. They will also work closely with director Stephen Lawless.
