One of the most beloved works in the opera repertoire will open Opera Omaha's 2016-2017 season.
Giacomo Puccini's "La Bohème," a tragic story of love and heartache among a group of French Bohemians, will premiere Nov. 4 at the Orpheum Theater, with a second performance two days later.
The performance will feature a notable first: Soprano Leah Partridge will sing the lead role of Mimi for the first time in her career. Partridge is a favorite with Omaha opera fans after appearing in several Opera Omaha shows in past seasons. Her last Omaha performance was at the 10th anniversary gala for the Holland Center last fall.
