Each fall, Opera Omaha celebrates National Opera Week with a variety of free events showing the full spectrum of opera and opera related experiences, with an overall goal of introducing and exposing as many people as possible to opera.

Midday Music: Tosca

Make the most of your lunch hour! Midday Music is a lunchtime preview hosted by the director and conductor of Tosca and features a short performance. It provides a quick taste of the story and music, along with some behind-the-scenes insight into our upcoming production of Tosca.

An Evening with Missy Mazzoli

Saturday, October 28 | 6:30 pm | Union for Contemporary Art

An intimate concert featuring the works of composer Missy Mazzoli, performed by the artist with featured singers and musicians. Followed by a conversation with Missy. Opera Omaha is world premiering Mazzoli’s new opera Proving Up in April 2018.

Fellows Performance with Omaha Area Youth Orchestra

Sunday, October 29 | 4:15 pm & 6:30 pm | The Holland Center

Holland Community Opera Fellow Jessica Johnson Brock will perform an aria from Bellini’s Norma with the Omaha Area Youth Orchestra as part of their All Orchestra Concert at the Holland Performing Arts Center.

The Dress Rehearsal is Free and Open to the Public as part of National Opera Week.

OPERAtion Storytime

Monday, October 30 | 9:30 am and 10:30 am | Omaha Public Libraries

Introducing opera to our youngest audiences. Presented in collaboration with the Omaha Public Library, OPERAtion storytime includes an opera themed book, and opera/vocal activities with an Opera Omaha Holland Community Artist Fellow. This storytime explores the early literacy skills of singing, playing, talking and reading.

Going beyond the ordinary field trip experience, Student Dress Rehearsals at Opera Omaha offer students a deep, meaningful encounter with many of the elements that bring the productions to the stage and a chance to see how a show is fine-tuned while watching many of the professional artists, technicians and managers in action.
