Opera Omaha kicks off its 51st season with the company's eighth world premiere, The Blizzard Voices. Ted Kooser's poetic retelling of the Blizzard of 1888, or "The Children's Blizzard", forms the basis of the libretto that composer Paul Moravec crafted into a gripping and poignant mixture of words and music. Shifting to comedy, the ever-popular and hilarious Pirates of Penzance proves that not all pirates are from the Caribbean. The season's final production, La Bohème, tugs at the heartstrings and reminds us that we were all poor and in love once.
