Bernstein-Arias and Barcaroles
Orff-Carmina burana
The evening opens with selections from Arias and Barcaroles, a series of storied vignettes composed late in Leonard Bernstein's career in which one gets a sense of his vast outpouring through these short pieces.
Then, a mass of voices fill the stage with the popular cantata Carmina burana, performed to Orff's own version for two pianos and percussion.
Throughout the evening, Robertson will share his thoughts on the music to enhance the listener's appreciation.
