| Our season begins with an important new work, a hallmark of Opera Omaha. During his tenure as Artistic Director, Stewart Robertson became intrigued by Ted Kooser’s account of the Blizzard of 1888, the Children’s Blizzard. Resulting in the kind of work that only Stewart could conceive, The Blizzard Voices is a dramatic oratorio for orchestra, chorus and six vocal soloists. Ted Kooser’s poetic retelling of this powerful story forms the basis for the libretto that composer Paul Moravec crafted into a gripping and poignant evening of music theater. There are only two opportunities to see this moving mix of words and music. |
