Susan G. Komen for the Cure
1-877 GO KOMEN (1-877-465-6636) is the resource for any and all things relating to breast health, breast cancer and Susan G. Komen for the Cure. All calls are answered by a trained and caring staff Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. CST and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CST. TDD available. The helpline provides free, professional support services to anyone with breast health and breast cancer concerns, including breast cancer patients and their families. It does not provide medical advice, make referrals to physicians or evaluate physicians, medical facilities or services.

In an effort to expand the available breast health resources to Nebraskan’s, the Nebraska Affiliate partnered with the Nebraska Go Local Initiative, a service of McGoogan Library of Medicine, and University of Nebraska Medical Center in cooperation with U.S. National Library of Medicine and National Institutes of Health, to develop a robust list of breast health resources for Nebraska citizens. Go Local offers a broad range of health services in Nebraska which are represented with emphasis on clinics, hospitals, health departments, public health services, nursing home facilities, mental health centers, libraries, emergency medical services, home health care services, and support groups. You can search this database specifically by breast cancer or breast health services. The Nebraska Affiliate is working with the McGoogan Library of Medicine staff to continually update resources on this site. Go Local can be accessed at http://medlineplus.gov/nebraska.

2-1-1 is the place to call when you're looking for a particular service, hotline, or agency. Dial 211 and be linked to an information and referral specialist who has an extensive human service database to access. 2-1-1 information and referral service for the following counties in Nebraska: Adams, Boone, Buffalo, Burt, Butler, Cass, Cedar, Clay, Colfax, Cuming, Dakota, Dawson, Dixon, Dodge, Douglas, Fillmore, Franklin, Gosper, Hall, Hamilton, Harlan, Howard, Jefferson, Kearney, Lancaster, Merrick, Nance, Nuckolls, Phelps, Platte, Polk, Sarpy, Seward, Scotts Bluff, Thayer, Thurston, Wayne, Webster and York.
The Nebraska Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (NCBCCCP)
The NCBCCCP is a federally funded program called Every Woman Matters that offers free or low-cost breast cancer screenings and follow-up to eligible women in Nebraska. Services provided include clinical breast exams, mammograms and diagnostic procedures as necessary. Call Every Woman Matters at 1-800-532-2227 to get general information about the program as well to find a local BCCCP provider near you or visit the website here.
