PAGLIACCI
October 16-18, 2009
Written and composed by Ruggiero Leoncavallo
Leoncavallo’s taut 1892 drama about love, infidelity and revenge was the leading edge of the verismo (real-life) opera movement. A simple farce quickly evolves into a vivid series of threatening encounters and ends in a double tragedy. Kelly Kaduce sings her first-ever Nedda, with Tonio DiPaolo as her husband, Canio, who sings his famous aria, “Vesti la giubba”.
