Opera Omaha Chorus

The Opera Omaha Chorus is comprised of professional singers from Omaha, Lincoln and the surrounding communities.

Auditions
Auditions for the Opera Omaha Chorus are scheduled at various times throughout the year. Singers are asked to prepare 2 vocal selections, one in a foreign language, not to exceed a total of 4 minutes. Arias, art songs, or church solos are all acceptable audition selections. An accompanist is provided. A performance résumé is suggested.

Requirements
Singers must be at least 18 years of age.

Commitment
Schedule varies, depending on the production – a typical rehearsal schedule includes 2-3 rehearsals per week. Rehearsals take place weekday evenings (except Wednesday) and on the weekends. During the week prior to the production, the weekday evening rehearsals may last 4-5 hours. Performances are generally Wednesday night, Friday night and Sunday afternoon.

Rehearsals are held at various locations in the community. Performances are typically held at the Orpheum Theater.

Fee
The Opera Omaha Chorus is paid at an hourly rate for each rehearsal hour, plus a standard fee for each performance.

As a member of the Opera Omaha Chorus, you agree to the following:

Choristers will not be excused in advance from any rehearsals at the Orpheum, or tech/dress rehearsals for any other performances. Last minute changes will be taken into consideration.
Late arrivals and early departures will be taken into consideration and must be approved in advance. Late arrivals and early departures from tech/dress rehearsals are discouraged but will also be considered.
Each conflict will be handled on an individual basis.
Stage Management and the Chorusmaster need to be notified prior to rehearsal if you are going to be absent due to illness or family emergency.

Most rehearsals are held in the evenings or on weekend afternoons. Please indicate when you can be available for rehearsals and that you have read and understand the above conditions
